It’s the MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!

That’s right folks – College football season is upon us – GOOOOOO DUCKSSSSSS!!!!

It’s going to be an exciting year for the Ducks this year, even though, as of week 3 we’re still not ranked. I expect us to climb though, especially after we destroyed our opponents from Southern Utah 77-21. It was beauty to behold. The victory over Nebraska started out beautiful, but our defense let them back in the game. But let’s focus on the bright spots for now.

We have a bright young quarterback, Justin Herbert, who shows poise under pressure.

And a new coach, Willie Taggart

Running back Royce Freeman is set to break some records this year!

Not to mention our other running backs, featuring Benoit

And Brooks-James who ran the first kickoff of the season back for a touchdown!

So, our offense is high powered and exciting to watch. The Defense? Not so much. They’re  better than last year, but have a long way to go. Overall, they’re not horrible, but they’d be better if they learned to tackle. You know? But, under the leadership of such returning players as Dye, I have hopes for them improving.

Next week we play Wyoming, which should be an easy win for us, but we’ll see. After that, we’ll start PAC12 play and that’s gonna be challenging. Our mojo definitely seems to be back. I just hope our defense can start making the plays necessary to close the door on those teams who come calling.

So, what about you? Are you excited about college football? Who’s your favorite team and how are they doing so far?

Lessons in Desire

There’s so much horrific stuff happening in the world right now. I should blog about that, shouldn’t I? Though we all know about it and suffice it to say I’m appalled by recent events and even more so by responses to them. So, how about we escape from it all by diving into a new book?

I have a new book coming out – book #12- next month. It’s titled Lessons in Desire.

Here’s the blurb:

Crockett Devine is a butch playboi and assistant professor of English. She wants forever someday. But not today. Until she meets Gina, her wingman Melinda’s TA. Sparks fly immediately. They’re falling hard and fast for each other until Fall Semester starts. When their hot and happily ever after is cooled by academic politics, the two women can no longer see each other. Much to Gina’s chagrin, Crockett insists they see other people. The semester is long and both women are tempted to give in to others. Will they be strong enough to withstand temptation? Or will they give in and lose each other for good?

So now you know a little about the book. But what about the characters? Who are they? What are they all about?

Crockett Devine loves the ladies. She and her friend, Melinda, often go to the lesbian club to go dancing. Crockett seldom leaves alone. When asked why she won’t settle down, she just says she’s not ready. She plans to sometime, just not yet. The reality is, her parents had a messy breakup and Crockett is afraid of the same thing happening to her. All this changes when she meets Gina Moreno. Something flips inside her and she knows she wants more than a simple roll in the hay with her.

Gina is new to town. She’s a transfer student into the Master program. From the minute she sees Crockett in Melinda’s office, she knows she wants her. When they run into each other at the club and Crockett asks her out, Gina knows she’s close. And she’s right. Once they get together, flames fly with an intensity neither can deny.

You know you want to read this book, right? LOL Well, I know I want you to read it. So, I’m giving you a chance to win it before you can buy it. Simply leave a comment telling me who your hottest teacher was and why… or just comment, but I’d love to hear about your school fantasies and you’ll be entered to win a copy of Lessons in Desire. Thanks for playing! Oh yeah – and the contest will end Thursday, August 24 at 5:30 Central Time. Thanks again!

Lonestar Lesfic Festival 2017

Another Lonestar Lesfic Festival is in the books. And man, was it a fun weekend in Austin, TX. The event started for us Friday night, when all the Bold Strokes authors and associates went out to dinner at Pappasito’s in Austin. The food was great and the company was wonderful. I had the pleasure of sitting next to new Bold Strokes author, Dena Blake. She is such a nice person.

The festival was on Saturday and the energy was excellent. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. The first panel was about writing series vs. stand alones. It was a very interesting and entertaining panel. I’m not gonna try to list who all was on the panel because I know I’d forget someone, so I apologize for that.

The next panel I went to was one that Laydin was on. It was about lying vs. telling the truth. Each author had to tell a story and the audience had to guess if it was a lie or the truth. It was most amusing!

After lunch, it was time for Laydin and I to man the Bold Strokes table and sell books.

We had a lot of fun talking to readers and even sold some books!

Next, it was time for me to do a reading. I read from Love Down Under. The other readers in my group were VK Powell, JM Redmann, and Annette Mori. We read and talked about what was coming up next for each of us.

The final panel I was on was about creating sparks between characters. It was a spirited panel with plenty of good questions from our moderator, Julie Cannon.

Dinner that night with the Bold Strokes crew at Madam Mam’s Thai food. It was delicious and fun, with a waiter who was easily confused. After dinner that night, Laydin and I hit a sports bar with CF Frizzell and her wife, Kathy to watch the Ducks basketball game. The Ducks lost by one point, which was sad, but at least the company was good.

Sunday morning was breakfast with Friz and Kathy and then we hit the road and came home. So, that’s it. Another Lonestar Lesfic Festival over and out!

United We Stand

PulseIt’s where my heart is still today. Like so many others, my heart and head are reeling after the attack on our brothers and sisters in Orlando yesterday. These were people. Yes, they were gay and lesbian people, but they were people first and foremost. They were sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. And their lives were taken why? Because of who they love. Some have tried to make this about international terrorism, but it’s not. It was a hate crime plain and simple. When will this all end? Why must we live in fear? We won’t, though. It’s what they want. They want us to be afraid, unsure if what we’re doing is right.

But we know. We know that what we’re doing is right. We can feel it in our hearts. We feel it in our souls. We know. And they can’t change that. Not with their small mindedness, not with their stupid automatic weapons that they shouldn’t even have, but that’s another subject. You don’t want to get me started on that.

This week, I’ll be selling books with other Bold Strokes authors at San Angelo Air Force Base. The next weekend is pride. Then, in July, it’s the GCLS ConGCLS At each of these events, I will be potentially opening myself up to be a target. So, do I stay home? Do I avoid them? NO! Because I’m Proud! Proud to be a card carrying butch lesbian and no one is going to take that away!

We can’t live in fear. Please don’t. Please continue to love with all your heart and stand tall and proud. We deserve to be happy. Don’t let anyone take that away from you!

So, my eighth novel, Heartscapes, will be out next month, but is available for pre-order now at

Heartscapes 300 DPI

I’m going to give away a copy here, though – that’s right – win it before you can buy it!

Here’s the blurb:

Jesse Garrett still grieves the death of her partner four years ago. The only thing that makes her feel alive are the nameless women with whom she shares her bed. And her art. When the opportunity arises for her to travel to Paris to study art, Jesse agrees to leave her dead-end job and take her chances in Paris.

Odette owns a cafe across the street from Jesse’s dorm. Jess frequents the cafe, mostly to see Odette with her silver hair and green eyes. It’s attraction at first sight.

Their love burns hot until Odette has a stroke, leaving her unable to remember Jesse. Will Odette ever remember her or must Jesse spend the rest of her time in Paris alone?

This book features an older woman, a health crisis and plenty of sex. What more could you ask for? Would you like to win a copy? Simply comment where you’d like to travel if you could go anywhere in the world and I’ll enter you in the drawing. The drawing will take place Thursday at 5 PM CST.

Just Checkin in…..

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, so I thought I’d check in and let y’all know what’s up…

Speakeasy’s been out on eBook for a month now. So far, it seems to have been well received:

It’s really got much more history in it than Forbidden Passions did. It you haven’t checked it out, you definitely should…

Yesterday, I read through my final page proofs from my editor for Escapades. MAN OH MAN is that book HAWT!!!!! It’s got more sex in it that I remembered, so if a sexy romp is your thing, be sure to pick up Escapades in July.

OK, enough with the promo…. Let’s talk about what I’m currently working on 🙂

The working title is “Heartscape” and it’s the story of a woman who goes to Paris for art school. Oh, wait, there’s more to it than that… the woman is about to turn forty, she has a dead end job and her partner died four years ago. She meets an art dealer and gets the opportunity to go to Paris to art school. Now, of course, since I’m writing the book, the woman (Jesse) is a womanizer. So who would have thought that she’d go to Paris and find someone who makes her want to settle down?

So that’s where we are now.. I’m about 40000 words into it. I still need to work on the story arc – the conflict – all the things that go with writing a story, but I’m working on it.

Outside of that, I had the wonderful pleasure of attending Lonestar Lesfic last month. That was in Austin and it was such an amazing event. You just gotta love the energy when that many women get together to talk about books!

Next on the agenda is Pride next month. Wooo Hoooo!!!!!

So that’s what I’m up to. I’ll try to be better about my blogging. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.  I’m always up for them!

Speak Easy vs. Escapades

Since I’m lucky enough to have two books coming out this year, I thought I’d take a minute to compare and contrast the two books. First of all, the titles of the books are Speak Easy and Escapades. Speak Easy will be out in eBook format in April, with a hard cover release later, to be announced and I don’t have a publication date for Escapades yet, so stay tuned. Here are the covers for the books:EscapadesSpeakeasy cover

Aren’t the covers awesome? I love our graphic artist, Sheri!

So, what are these books about? Well, being that I am an erotic author, they both have erotic content but it’s very different in each book.

Escapades is the story of a player, Joey. Joey likes sex in different ways with different women. The book covers her escapades as she lives them, until she falls in love with Samantha. Now, the fact that she falls in love at all scares her, but the fact that the object of her love is pregnant terrifies her.

Samantha returns her love and their passion is documented in the story. Until something happens that makes Samantha pull away.

That’s all I’m going to tell you. You’ll have to read the book to find out the rest. Just know this book is a lot of sex and a lot of fun. It’s a romp, really. Enjoyable, to be sure. And I hope you’ll enjoy it.

The other book is Speak Easy. This is far and away my favorite book that I’ve written to date. Now, it has erotic content as well, but MOST of the sex in this book is between two committed women. Sure, there’s a little random sex, but it’s not like the chronicling of Joey’s life and times.

Speak Easy is about a mob boss, Helen Byrne, in 1920’s Chicago. I spent a lot of time researching the time and place for this book and I hope you’ll see that when you read it. I’ve included actual events and actual people. It’s true to its time period, so there is violence in it. Helen is trying to hold her own in the gang wars of the day, as well as trying to expand her own gang with as little death as possible. Tempers between the gangs always run high, but they escalate when Helen decides she wants the girl of Al Capone’s right hand man. And she’ll stop at nothing to get her.

So, now you know what to expect with each book. I hope you’ll pick them both up and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for reading!
